Reflecting on the last year

As we celebrate the New Year, I find myself reflecting on the past months with a deep sense of gratitude.
Just last week, as Iran’s missiles sent us rushing to the communal bomb shelter, something unexpected happened—we connected with our neighbors in a way that rarely happens outside times of crisis. Exactly one year ago today, I was called to serve in the reserves and spent ten long weeks away from my family, during which I lost a dear friend. Our losses were great, but so is the unity that has emerged across the country.
Despite the uncertainty, these months in service allowed me to meet some of the most extraordinary individuals—the cream of the crop. I had some of the most meaningful conversations of my life, gaining a glimpse into the hearts and minds of my fellow reservists, who stand ready to defend not just our home, but Jews around the world.

My guiding business has come to a standstill as tourism has faded away. But when one door closes, another opens. With your support, I’ve been able to apply my knowledge of the outdoors and running a business to create TogetherAgain. Out of loss, there is creation and growth—our family has grown too, as we welcomed baby Ron into the world.

This is my story for this past year. I’m sure yours is just as compelling, with its own challenges and triumphs. All we can do is choose to be grateful and find the silver linings in these difficult times.
May this New Year bring peace, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose,
Amichai Korda
